Resident Spotlight- Lt. Colonel Clark
At 87 years old, Lt. Colonel Clark’s life is a remarkable story of service, strength, perseverance, and humility.
After completing school, she joined the United States Air Force and went on to earn her master’s degree in Institutional Management. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. During her distinguished 28-year military career, she was stationed throughout the United States.
As Chief Dietitian of Food Service, Lt. Colonel Clark carried tremendous responsibility. She explains that the military trained her to carefully analyze every situation because the decisions she made affected lives—a habit she still carries with her today.
Lt. Colonel Clark entered the Air Force at a time when women, particularly African American women, were not commonly seen in positions like hers. She carried herself with poise and made it clear that she would not be overlooked. Her strength came at a personal cost, as leadership often meant keeping her guard up and having few close friendships.
When asked how she persevered through the challenges she faced, she shared, “I cried many days and nights, but after, I always held my head high and continued on.”
Despite serving her country, overcoming tremendous obstacles, and paving the way for countless others, Lt. Colonel Clark remains incredibly humble. In her words, “I am just like everybody else—no different.”
Her advice to her great-niece—and a lesson we can all carry with us—is simple but powerful: “Whatever you do, do your very best.”
Lt. Colonel Clark is also a phenomenal artist, and her beautiful artwork can be seen throughout Treyton Oak Towers. We are deeply grateful for her sacrifices, inspired by her strength, and incredibly proud to have her as part of our community.
