What is the Difference Between Personal Care and Assisted Living?

Here at Treyton Oak Towers, we offer a full “continuum of care” from fully Independent Senior Living to Personal Care to Skilled Nursing Services. Knowing the difference between the levels of care our community offers is important to know as you contemplate your next move.

One of the most common questions asked is “What is the difference between Personal Care and Assisted Living?” We can gladly answer that for you!

What’s the difference between Independent Senior Living and Personal Care?

Independent Living is just as the name implies – fully independent living, with all of the amenities and activities that Treyton Oak Towers provides.

Personal Care is similar to Independent Living at Treyton Oak Towers, though Personal Care residents require more assistance from staff with daily activities.

Our Personal Care offers around-the-clock support from a staff dedicated to your comfort and care – whether you need a hand getting out of the shower, help with medications or some assistance getting dressed.

How does Personal Care compare to “Assisted Living”?

First, it’s important to know that while Treyton Oak Towers does not provide “assisted living” as Kentucky regulations define it – but our Personal Care apartments would more commonly be known as “assisted living” in most other states.

Our Personal Care apartments are similar to what other locations provide in “assisted living”, but we provide more than “assisted living” providers, and here’s how:

We are able to provide medication administration, not just medication reminders and we have licensed staff members that are providing the care, whereas “assisted living” providers in Kentucky do not have licensed staff members providing care.

Our Personal Care apartments have the same layout, look, feel and customization opportunities of Independent Living, but with added services that include medication administration, specialized activities, excellent meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and assistance with activities of daily living, dressing, bathing, all in Treyton Oak Towers’ signature apartment style setting.

Choosing between Independent Living and “Personal Care”

Independent Living is similar to Personal Care – even with the same living space and floor models. However, independent living residents at Treyton Oak Towers are typically able to perform everyday tasks without assistance.

For all levels of care, the Treyton Oak dining experience is available as well as housekeeping, laundry and transportation as well as many other amenities. The activities and continuing education offered to our residents is second to none. Spend your time simply enjoying all that life has to offer!

For those who require a little help with their daily living activities, Treyton Oak Towers offers outstanding licensed personal care in assisted independent living style apartments.

The “Continuum of Care”: Moving from Independent Senior Living to Personal Care

Because we provide what is known as a continuum of care, personal care and skilled nursing care are available should the need arise in the future. Our staff can assist in making certain you’re receiving an appropriate level of care.

What are Skilled Nursing Services?

Treyton Oak Towers provides skilled nursing services for those residents who require a level of care beyond personal care – including 24-hour nursing care. Our skilled services include speech, physical and occupational therapy as well as other services your doctor may order.
